Idaho Blue Spruce Essential Oil
Contains Naturally Occurring
Alpha-Pinene and Limonene

Idaho Blue Spruce Essential Oil contains high percentages of alpha-pinene and limonene. It enhances spiritual connection and awareness.

Limonene is mostly contained in citrus oils such as Grapefruit and Lemon.

Idaho Blue Spruce

The Native Americans used Blue Spruce for spiritual and practical reasons. It was placed in baths to ease muscle discomfort after exercise; and used in rituals to ground the body and enhance spiritual connection especially in chant work.

Add it to your bath to relax both mind and body.

Blue Spruce is in one of my new favorite oil blend, Transformation.

What is the Genus Species?  Picea pungens  This oil is distilled at Young Living’s St. Maries farm in Idaho.

Why is this Information Important?  There are over many different species of Spruce. Additionally, there are several parts of the tree that can be used as well. Therefore, it is always important to know the genus species and what part of the plant the oil is distilled from.

Remember, many companies may use a substitute species or a combination of species that may not offer the benefit you are looking for. They may smell nice but are not at all the same. Too many companies label essential oils generically which means none of us know what they are really putting in the oils they sell to us!

Where is the Name derived From?  The name Spruce comes from an Old French word “Pruce” meaning “Prussia”. It is thought that the word Spruce meant commodities that came from hanseatic merchants to England. It is also meant to freshen or tidy up!

Also, the word "pungens", comes from Latin for sharp. The needles are 4-sided and have a very sharp point on the end, hence the reason behind the species name.

Why is this Information so Important?  Its not, it’s just a fun fact!

What Part of the Plant is Used?  Branches, needles and twigs.

What is the ORAC Value? Not known at this time

Why know about this number?  ORAC stands for Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity. It tells you the antioxidant capacity of a food item. This was developed by the USDA researchers. For instance: Spinach = 1,400; Clove = 1,078,700. Wow! The number for clove is NOT a typo!

Idaho Blue Spruce Essential Oil is grounding and provides a feeling of deep peace and security.  It helps us to open our heart by providing a sense of security and trust in who we are (and the universe). It empowers us to be that person by knowing that you are safe to become that person.

Stand tall and become who you are--do not be afraid to stand out and be a unique individual as each person has a purpose here on Earth. When you connect your heart with your mind and the universal mind and allow there is nothing that you can’t do. -Channeled message from Nan's Guides and Angels.

What Chakra is Affected?  The sacral, heart and crown chakras.

What is the Corresponding Chakra Color? Pink.

How Do I Use It?

Use diluted - 50:50 dilution (one part essential oil: one part of vegetable oil) for sensitive skin. Otherwise, use NEAT (undiluted). Then,

  • Apply several drops (2-4) on location
  • Apply to chakras
  • Directly inhale
  • Diffuse

Can this Oil be Used for Pets? Yes, the animals are very drawn to this oil, dogs and horses in particular. Use it to promote peace and protection.

Have your animals smell it directly from the bottle or place a drop or two in your palm, then smell. Or place a drop in your palm and pet head to toe.

Note About Animal Use: Certain oils can be very toxic to cats. Citrus and pine products and oils in particular.  Please consult your vet if you are not sure about applying any essential oil to your pet.

I only recommend using Young Living Oils on animals at this time.

What are the Safety Precautions? Only therapeutic grade essential oils should be used if you want best results! Because it is approved as a Food Additive (FA) and Flavoring Agent (FL) by the FDA, Spruce Oil is readily available on the market in many different qualities.

Repeated use could result in skin irritation (dilution is recommended).

Although it may be used as a dietary supplement, it is advised not to use it in this manner for children under 6 years of age.

If pregnant or under a doctor's care, consult your physician.
