Digestive Enzymes Supplement -
Uses and Types of Enzymes

Digestive enzymes supplement the diet and help the body with almost every function on a cellular level. The benefits of digestive enzymes include weight loss, better digestion and assimilation of nutrients, and more!

Essential oils are some of the best digestive enzymes as they increase the assimilation of other nutrients on a cellular level and detox the body by removing waste from the cells; and you can also get all the other benefits of essential oils as well.

What are the Uses of Digestive Enzymes?

When our diet is supplemented with enzymes our body can:

  • Assimilate the maximum nutritional value from the food by breaking down fats, carbohydrates and proteins efficiently.

  • Reduce the amount of digestive enzymes that needs to be produced by the body which frees the body to expend energy on producing more metabolic enzymes. Metabolic enzymes are critical for detoxification and daily metabolic functions. See more in this section.

What Enzymes Digest Protein?

These enzymes digest protein (proteolytic) and are called protease:

  • Protease 6
  • Protease 4.5
  • Protease 3
  • Peptidase

The number refers to the pH.

What Enzymes Digest Fat? What is Lipase?

Enzymes that digest fat are called lipases.

  • Lipase

What Enzymes Digest Carbohydrates, Sugar and Starch?

These enzymes digest carbohydrates, sugar and starch (amylases):

  • Alpha-galactosidase
  • Sucrase
  • Maltase
  • Invertase
  • Lactase
  • Cellulase
  • Amylase
  • Glucomylase
  • Hemicellulase
  • Phytasemalt
  • Diastase

Amylase is not present in the human body at birth. It is only obtained through mother's milk therefore; children who do not receive this enzyme are prone to allergies.

What is Pancreatin Enzyme?

Pancreatin contains pancreatin amylase, lipase, trypsin and protease that are produced by pancreas; and are usually bovine (cow) source. If it contains more lipase, than it is usually termed pancrelipase and is from a porcine (pig) source.

What Enzymes are Naturally Found in Plants?

These enzymes are found in raw plant food and start the digestive process.

  • Papain
  • Bromelain

The benefits of bromelain include reduction of inflammation, pain and even blood clots.
